Across The Bar
Tottenham Hotspur have pledged their support to the Antwerp Arms to save this local pub for supporters!
“As a Club with strong ties to its local community and fanbase, we recognise the important role that the Antwerp Arms plays in terms of providing a popular meeting place for supporters on a matchday, as well as being part of the area’s heritage,”
The Club said in an official statement, adding
“The Club, along with our Supporters Trust, is therefore delighted to have shown its support for the Antwerp Arms Association.”
Spurs hero is an Antwerp Arms shareholder
We were left star struck when Spurs legend Gary Mabbutt came down to the Annie to lend his support to the cause!
He patiently signed all our remaining T-Shirts, pulled pints, had a broad smile for everyone, cracked some jokes and took his time to find out all about Save Our Pub. What a trooper! What a man!
MP David Lammy tweets that he has bought shares in the Antwerp Arms!
Win a unique signed print by donating to The Annie
Local artist Andrew Miller has hand crafted 10 woodcut prints of the Antwerp Arms Pub.
The Antwerp Arms Association will be giving a limited- edition, numbered, signed and mounted print of the pub to the next 10 Patron- level donors on Microgenius!
If you buy £1000 or more worth of our shares (giving you 20 shares+) you will get one of these unique prints to mark your amazing commitment to help us save one of Tottenham’s last historic pubs.
Lights, CAMRA, Action?
It is with great delight we announce the fabulous New Tottenham Singers have agreed to providing the soundtrack of (and some even star in) our film-to-be, to promote the buying of shares in our community pub by pledging your support on Microgenius.
On Tuesday evening rehearsals began on ‘Who is Annie?’ A slight liberty taking variation on Shakespeare’s words and Schubert’s melody ‘Who is Sylvia?’ (1826) selected by Nadya Ostroff, our resident musicologist. The song became a popular drinking song and is almost as old as our dear pub.
It took no time at all for Choir Master,Tom Folkes to teach the amazing choir the song in four parts no less, and sound heavenly. A well as promoting AAA community sale of shares, you never know ‘Who is Annie’ may become a hit in 2014!
WE WILL BE AT THE TOTTENHAM PLOUGHMAN MAYFEST ON 5TH MAY AT MARKFIELD PARK

This just in…
We have been told (but not yet confirmed!) that the Antwerp Arms Pub has been sold to a private estate. The Asset of Community Value is in place and the the Antwerp must continue to be run as a pub.
The present landlord ‘Justin‘ has been given a lease by the new landlord and we give him our full support.
Justin is making arrangements to bring in the real ale that everyone wants and he wants to hear from you about what you want!
So we are arranging a family friendly social event on:
SATURDAY 2ND NOVEMBER from 2PM onwards…
At the Antwerp Arms Pub, Church Road. N17 8AS.
There will be a chance for musicians and singing groups, DJ’s and entertainers to have a 10 minute slot to showcase their acts and community groups will have an opportunity to make a presentation. or if you would like to organise a Children’s game or other fun event you can have ten minutes too, So please think of fun and exciting things to do!
(Can anyone help with a P.A.System?) There will be a running order so please send us a personal message if you are going to appear with a brief description of what you plan to do. There will be fun and games and we just ask everyone to bring a plate of food!
We are continuing to monitor the situation and we will provide updates as we get them, If you would like to tell Justin what you would like to see at the pub please post your comments below and we will print them out and give them to Justin at our next meeting.
Thank you for your continued support and see you at the party on Saturday 2ND November 2013!!!!!
WOO HOO!!!! Today the ANTWERP ARMS PUB has been listed as an ASSET OF COMMUNITY VALUE by Haringey Council
On 14th August an assessment panel agreed that the pub should be awarded an ‘ACV’ and we have been notified of this on Monday 9th September 2013.
For those of you that want more information we will be organising another general meeting with the date to be confirmed.
With thanks to everyone for all your support, this is just the start…The fight goes on!
- In England, an asset of community value (ACV) is land or property of importance to a local community which is subject to additional protection from development under the Localism Act 2011. Voluntary and community organisations can nominate an asset to be included on their local authority’s register of ACVs.
Tottenham MP David Lammy urges Haringey Borough Council leader Claire Kober to support campaign to save the Antwerp Arms
Jaber Mohamed of the Haringey Independent writes here:
The application to make the Antwerp Arms an asset of community value (ACV) received a rousing vote of confidence at our first public meeting yesterday, held at Lancasterian School.
Nearly one hundred people turned up to tonight’s meeting. A show of hands revealed that nearly all are a hundred percent behind the project. A big thank you to the Lancasterian School for allowing us to have our first meeting in their dining room last night.
